Eagle Update - Boys U-15 (7/8 Grade):: Outback Tournament
EHT Running Eagles U-15 Boys Lacrosse Shine in Tournament by Joe Sheffer

The EHTLA U-15 boys headed north to put their undefeated record on the line against the North Jersey and Central Jersey powerhouses at the OUTBACK Tournament over the weekend. Winning 6 straight games over the weekend, the boys met a select allstar team from Millstone in the final four. EHT battled to a 3-3 tie at the end of regulation and came up short 5 minutes into overtime when a mad scramble in front of our goal ended with a score for Millstone.

Sal Avellino and Chase Sheffer led all scorers over the weekend followed by Robert Corsey, Vincent DelConte, Jack Foster, Nick DeCaprio, Joey Depietro, Cody Kiedaisch and Devin Swisher. Tommy Reilly, Andrew Katapodis and Kyle Buckley added awesome efforts throughout the day to help in the team's success.

Defensively, goalie, Brandon DiMeglio made many outstanding saves throughout the day. Kyle Houghton, Ryan Stewart and Pierce Thompson along with Nick DiCaprio and Jack Foster were stellar in their performance against the opposition.

On an even brighter note, Sal Avellino and Robert Coursey both advanced to the final four in the face-off competition while Jack Foster recorded an 88 mph shot to win the "fastest shot" competition.

Eagle Update - Boys U-13 (5/6 Grade):: Opening Weekend 3/26/11
Coach Drew Gargan of the U-13 Running Eagles saw a lot of good lacrosse Saturday afternoon even though they came up short on the scoreboard. "Our boys showed tons of improvement since last season. Their development has really pleased many of the parents." "Although the score was 4-2 in favor of Lacey Twp, I felt the team outplayed Lacey. Their (Lacey) goalie made about 15 saves on the day, he was definitely the difference in the game and a good player." They capped their day with a tight game against Mainland. With a 3-3 tie late in the game, a few penalties cost EHT and they paid the price on the score board in the end. The final score was 8-3. Dylan Charlton stood tall in the goal for his first experience as a lacrosse goalie. Zach Wechsler and Josh Hornstein led the offense with the help of Kamran Din, Larry Nidorf, Matt Korsak, Sal Carfagno, Nick Faustino and Matt Sawyer. The defensive duties were handled by Grant Morfitt, Jack Menet, Aaron Wechsler and Andrew Gargan.

Eagle Update - Boys U-15 (7/8 Grade):: Eagle Update 8th grade
Monday 04/19/10

8th graders have shown tremendous improvement as a whole! Presently they are 6-2 overall and 5-1 in league play losing their last of 3 games in OT to a well rested Avalon in the Ice Breaker Festival. Then later defeating them in the rematch 6-0. Goalie John Tepper carries a 1.28 Goals Against Average in league play behind a stellar defensive unit made up of Bryce Young, Shane Morgan, Eric Wallermann and Tyler Loges.

The offensive unit has really stepped up their game and impressed the fans with the likes of Connor Houghton, Dillon Tarsitano, Aaron Denesevich, Mark Mason and Alan Angeloni lighting up the score board. the hustle of Tyler Maldanado, Andrew Sawyer, Ryan Gentry, Cole Waldron, Brendan McHugh and Brian Dallman has helped retain the ball as we dominate in time of possession each game.

Every game these boys improve as they prepare for that next level of play! Look out High School! Here comes the Running Eagles!!!

Continue to work hard for those goals!

For the love of the game!

Coach Joe

Forum:: To the Parents
Just in closing...I'd like to explain what I mean in the last few paragraphs about missing practices. Been thinking about this!!!

The kids that are missing lacrosse for other sports are the ones who need the most work in lacrosse because it is so new to them. If they are at baseball, most likely they are not learning anything new. They are going over that which they already know! The same goes for the hockey players and soccer players.

Everything they are doing at lacrosse practice is brand new! From catching a lacrosse ball thrown at them and throwing it back. Trust me, it is not THAT easy! Now we are getting into the offense and defense schemes, off ball movement and rides and clears. Our season is beginning real soon. I will do my best to have the information at the practices for the children to take home, hopefully they will study it.

It will become obvious very quick when we try to run an offense and children don't know what the heck is going on.

That is all for now! I hope everyone understands what I am trying to get across.

Joe
